Bobcat Stadium, formerly known as Strahan Coliseum, is a 35,000-seat stadium on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, United States. It is the home of the Texas State Bobcats football team. Originally completed in 1981 as part of a plan to bring the school's athletic program up to Division I-A (now known as the Football Bowl Subdivision, or FBS) standards, the stadium was expanded several times in subsequent years. The seating capacity was increased to 30,000 in 1997 and 35,000 in 2001. The addition of a press box and luxury suites in 2002 gave the stadium its distinctive "rodeo-style" appearance. The stadium was renamed Bobcat Stadium in 2008 in honor of the university's mascot, the bobcat. Bobcat Stadium is known for its loud and enthusiastic atmosphere, and is frequently ranked among the top college football stadiums in the country. The stadium has hosted numerous notable games and events over the years, including the NCAA Division I-AA (now known as the Football Championship Subdivision, or FCS) National Championship Game in 1999 and 2005, the Texas State Bobcats' first-ever bowl game in 2012, and the 2016 FCS Kickoff Classic.
